Indo-German Dialogue on Sustainable Water Resource Management
Under the umbrella of the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in New Delhi, Heidelberg Centre South Asia, TERI University, Technical University Munich, FU Berlin and Indo-German Centre for Sustainability conducted an Indo-German Dialogue on Sustainable Water Resource Management. The workshop took place between October 3-4, at TERI University, New Delhi and was attended by over 150 persons. The workshop’s prime focus was to understand water systems and their management, innovate water treatments, and explore e.g. energy generation possibilities from water. The participants reached the conclusion that there is a need for a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to water resource management. The workshop brought together top-notch scholars, experts and practitioners from Germany and India, from both public and private sector, covering various aspects of water resource management such as 1. Water Sharing- Current approach, benefits and challenges; 2. ICT -Tools and Techniques for Managing Water; 3. Urbanisation and Water management and 4. Stakeholder engagement and capacity building for sustainable water management A report containing policy recommendations for sustainable water resource management will be published in the first half of 2017 and circulated to relevant institutions both in India and in Germany.
